Sisko Tauriainen is an adjunct professor of molecular virology and university lecturer, Institute of Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, Finland. Dr. Sisko Tauriainen obtained her MSc and PhD degrees at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Turku, Finland. She did her post-doctoral training at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan and a second post-doctoral training at the University of Tampere, Finland, where she started her research on enteroviruses and type 1 diabetes. She works as a university lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, Finland. She is heavily involved in teaching virology to students aiming at careers in medicine and biomedicine. She has experience in virological research for over 20 years and has published over 50 scientific articles. She is the representative of Finland at the European Society for Clinical Virology (ESCV). Her current research interest are in central nervous system infections causing viruses including parechoviruses, enteroviruses, hepatitis E and seasonal corona viruses.
